LA with Friends

This past weekend we stayed with our friends Tony and Yvonne who live in West LA. These guys are some of our closest friends, and since we've moved back to SB we've hardly seen them, so of course we had the best time. We started out with breakfast at BLD- which was (clear throat) amazing! Then we made a yummy dinner at the house, followed with another fab brunch that Sunday morning and later a little shopping in Los Feliz at LA LA LING with a fun snack at our fav Figaro Cafe. Enjoy!

SWEET POTATO

We tried sweet potato the other day- needless to say the stuff is extremely messy.

To tell you the truth P was more interested in eating her bib!

Pep Family Picnic Zoo style

Our PEP group decided to have a picnic at the zoo. The zoo was nice enough to bring a couple of animals for the kids to meet- P really enjoyed the tortoise!

HIP HIP HIPSTER BABY

Last week I trekked down to Los Angeles- the city of Culver to be exact- to finally pick up my stolen IPHONE from the Culver City Police Station. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am to have this phone back. You really forget how much you come to depend on all that technology in the palm of your hands. Of course I had become such an avid texter that I really came to regret that habit when I had the temporary phone these past few months. 3 letters to a number- OLD SCHOOL! So while me and Penelope were down there we decided to have lunch with one of my buddies and of course do a little shopping. ;) I hit up YOLK in Siverlake where I found this cute YO shirt and LU LU DRAGONFLY in Los Feliz where I got the adorable pink Elvis onesie. We always make it worth the trip when we head to down to old town.

Hair secrets 1 and 2

Hair Secret #1: I thought I would share one of my fav beauty products- for those of you who aren't already in the know, you must check out Morrocan Oil. This stuff rocks. I have uber curly hair and I am one of those fanatics that like to spend a minimum of 30 min trying to get it straight. Well curly haired girls have trouble in that department. Even though we can get our hair "straight" we still fight with our fair share of frizz. Plus, my hair has a course texture, but when I use this stuff I barely need any product- and I barely need to use much of this oil- It makes my hair baby fine and silky, like its (um naturally straight! shhhhh). So if you haven't already checked it out I encourage you to do some investigating. Trust me on this one, you won't be disappointed.

Hair Secret #2: If you dooo want curls or waves depending on your hair I implore you try Frederic Fekkai's beach waves. This stuff is awwwwesome. It will give you that "oh nothing, I just left the beach" look. Keeps the curls perfectly together and not to frizzy not too tight- just totally lived in, totally beach. Ahhh love it.

1st day of school!

Tuesday was Penelope's first day of school! We went to Infant Times 1 over at the Wake Center. The class teaches songs, sign language, baby massage etc. There were a ton of babies and mommies there. It was really fun.

All that learning can be exhausting!

Stellas

One of my favorite restaurants in town has always been the lovely Stella Mare's and I most recently was able to indulge with my even lovlier friend Kelly to celebrate her birthday. P and I all got all dolled up and took Kelly out for a fab lunch.

solids?

Penelope turned 5 months this past week so we celebrated with a little rice cereal... of course I think she prefers bacon but at this point this is all she's getting. Sorry kid!

A WINTRY BBQ

We had a few incredibly warm days the other week and when we do I always get inspired to have a beachside bbq. Of course the day we actually have one its bitter cold and windy, but hey we made the most of it (check out James's lovely scarf).

Easter was a fantastic day. It started out with Sunday service in the courthouse sunken gardens here in SB. After we went to Alice Keck park for a nice relaxing picnic by the pond and a little bocci ball. Enjoy the pics!
